In a study, the researchers tracked 30 men with low-risk prostate cancer who decided against medical treatment like surgery. The men underwent major lifestyle changes: eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and soy products, moderate exercise like walking for half an hour a day, and everyday stress management. After 3 months the men had changes in activity in about 500 genes: 48 were turned on and 453 genes were turned off.
