Weight Loss Diet: Healthy Eating, Losing Fat and Calories

Losing weight: Diet is the practice of eating in a regulated fashion to achieve a long-term objective. The most common objective is loss of excess body fat. Weight-loss diets restrict the intake of specific foods to reduce body weight. What works to reduce body weight for one person will not necessarily work for another, due to metabolic differences and lifestyle factors. There are lot of quick weight loss products available, but not all of them are efficient. The studies have shown that the best ways to lose weight are keeping a food diary or having a weight loss surgery.

Research: White tea may fight obesity   telegraph.co.uk :: 2009-05-04
A rarefied white tea used by the Chinese since the days of the Ming Dynasty could play a key role in fighting obesity, new research has revealed. Naturally occurring chemicals in white tea (made by plucking the youngest buds of the tea plant) are capable of breaking down fat cells and preventing new ones from forming. White tea has previously been linked to stronger bones, lowering blood pressure and decreasing the risk of some cancers. The new research, published in the journal Nutrition and Metabolism, claims that anti-fat properties can be added to that list.

It seems that not only tea has health and metabolism benefits, but also helps to lose weight due to its diet effect, claims "The Ultimate Tea Diet" by Mark Ukra. The book shows tea's unique weight-loss potential in a straightforward plan for losing weight in a safe and healthy way. Just find a tea you love, drink it all day, follow an easy food plan, and watch the pounds fall off. Not only tea can be an ultimate diet plan, but drinking tea also helps to improve the immune system, lower blood sugar and cholesterol, prevent cavities and tooth decay and interestingly slow the aging process.

Green Tea Extract and Weight Loss   americanchronicle :: 2007-05-24
Green tea has always been known to have health benefits, but who knew that it could contribute to weight loss as well? A study show that green tea extract can increase metabolism and fat oxidation of the body. In theory, scientists believe that the weight loss benefits of green tea extracts are due to their caffeine content but the results of the study show otherwise. Researchers administered alone the same amount of caffeine as that in green tea extracts but found that it did not make changes in the body's energy expenditure. This led them to conclude that green tea extracts have ingredients that interact with each other, promoting increased metabolism.

Drinking black tea good for you, but milk in tea blocks health gains   bbc :: 2007-01-12
Adding milk to a cup of tea can destroy its ability to protect against heart disease, according to research. A German study found drinking black tea improved the ability of arteries to relax and expand to keep blood pressure healthy. But the European Heart Journal also found proteins in milk, called caseins, blocked this effect. It is estimated as many as 98% of UK tea-drinkers prefer milk in their favourite cuppa. As there were 200 bioactive compounds in tea the apparent effect of milk of vasodilation "does not necessarily mean milk negates the other effects of tea".

One cup of Green Tea each day may lower breast cancer risk   epochtimes :: 2007-01-11
The last few years have seen a rush of studies, which point to green tea as an eminently healthy beverage. Much of research has focused on the ability of green tea to help ward against cancer. Green tea is rich in phytochemicals known as polyphenols that have antioxidant activity. This means that they have the potential to quell disease-promoting molecules known as free radicals. Study found that women who consumed at least 26 ounces of green tea leaves each year had a 39% reduced risk of breast cancer compared to non-drinkers. 26 ounces of dried leaves per year equates to only 300 cups of green tea per year: less than one each day.

Thermogenesis from green tea aids weight loss   mb :: 2006-09-01
Thermogenesis is the process of how the body generates heat or energy by increasing the basic metabolic rate above the normal. "Generally, the body produces heat when it is activated by certain mechanisms, such as nutrition, exercise, and ingestion of some supplements." Dr. Barrenechea said that these processes, once jump-started, increase metabolism, directly resulting in weight loss. "Green tea has the potential to accelerate metabolism without overstimulating your adrenal glands."

Health benefits of tea   wikipedia :: 2000-01-12
Claims have been made regarding the health benefits of tea consumption since the beginning of its history. The possible beneficial health effects of tea consumption have been supported by some studies, but others have not found beneficial effects. One should consult a doctor before using lot of tea for disease prevention. Ingestion of large amounts of tea may cause nutritional and other problems because of the strong binding activities of tea polyphenols and the caffeine content, although no solid data exist concerning harmful effects of tea consumption.
